1. Overview & Core Principles

Project IAS is designed as a distraction-free digital study room for aspirants preparing for the UPSC Civil Services Examination. Unlike commercial platforms that profit from user engagement metrics or ad retargeting, our architecture prioritizes academic focus, data minimization, and strict confidentiality.

This Privacy Policy details how we collect, process, protect, and handle your information when you access our structured subject notes, daily current affairs, past year questions (PYQs), quizzes, study plans, bookmarking features, and AI mentorship.

2. Information We Collect

We collect only the data necessary to provide a reliable, personalized study experience.

  • •
Account Credentials: Email address and authentication tokens when you sign up via Supabase Auth (or OAuth providers like Google).
  • •
Study Room State & Progress: Saved notes, bookmarked articles, subject progress counters, quiz attempt scores, and custom study plans.
  • •
AI Mentorship Interactions: Prompt logs and conversational history sent to the UPSC AI Chatbot to maintain conversation state during study sessions.
  • •
Technical & System Logs: Anonymized IP addresses, browser types, screen dimensions, and page rendering performance metrics.

3. How We Use Your Information

Your data is used strictly for technical, operational, and educational purposes:

Study Personalization

Synchronizing saved bookmarks, custom revisions, and quiz scores seamlessly across your devices.

AI Chat Mentorship

Providing contextual, syllabus-aligned answers for Mains GS papers, Essay brainstorming, and Prelims logic.

Platform Health & Security

Detecting rate-limit violations, guarding against malicious traffic, and ensuring low-latency search speeds.

Essential Updates

Sending account security notifications or opt-in daily current affairs summaries when explicitly requested.

4. AI Mentorship & Prompt Confidentiality

We treat queries sent to our AI Mentorship tool as confidential academic work:

  • ✓No Public Model Training: Your prompts and essay drafts are never used to train foundation models.
  • ✓Zero Commercial Monetization: Prompt logs are not mined for advertising keywords or user profiling.
  • ✓Ephemeral API Transmission: API calls to model providers employ zero-retention or strict enterprise privacy parameters.

5. Cookies & Analytics Technologies

Project IAS uses a minimal cookie footprint. We distinguish between essential operational cookies and privacy-focused telemetry.

Essential

Session & Auth Cookies

Set by Supabase to maintain encrypted user session state and secure authentication token rotation.

Telemetry

PostHog & Umami Analytics

Used for monitoring page load speeds, identifying dead links, and debugging search routing. IP addresses are anonymized before storage, and third-party advertising cookies are strictly disabled.

To operate a reliable portal, we work with trusted infrastructure services under strict data processing agreements:

Supabase Inc.

Anonymized Telemetry

7. Data Security & Retention

We protect your study data using industry-standard technical measures:

  • •Encryption: All web traffic is encrypted in transit using TLS 1.3. Databases and session stores are encrypted at rest using AES-256.
  • •Access Controls: Row-Level Security (RLS) policies ensure that only authenticated users can access their own bookmarks, notes, and study logs.
  • •Retention Period: Active account data is retained for as long as your account remains open. Inactive session logs are automatically purged after 90 days.
